I am a film editor and have recently started working on independent projects from home. I have a MacBook Pro and work on Avid and Premiere projects. My first project filled up my 2tb so I bought 2 of these 4tb drives to be able to take on more work. I have had no issues working form these drives, with both the media and project files living on the external drives. They are super fast, I have had no latency issues whatsoever (and I work pretty fast). They are also silent and do not generate any heat worth mentioning. I would definitely buy more of these for future projects.

Bought this hard drive and formatted it as per usual. Windows 10 recognized it right away out of the box - no problems with Windows. First set of files I transferred was about 2gb. It took 45 mins. Started googling potential issues and by browser was filled with other people with the exact same problem. Had to edit my registry, buffer settings, device manager and I can't remember what else and even still... I had to cap my transfer speeds as they were overflowing the read/write capabilities of the drive and causing it to flood out at 100%. Guess you get what you pay for. It's a nice little compact drive, is powered by the USB (my old Seagate had a power adaptor) so it's easier to transport and neater when connected - it's just the speed that I didn't care about it. To each their own.

This is my fourth drive in this format: 1 TB, 2TB, 2TB, 4 TB. The first drive failed after about 2 years. My assumption is that these drives will eventually fail. Currently I back up my portable to folders on each of the 2 TB drives. I then backup these to the 4 TB drive. Finally I have a larger desktop 4 TB to which I copy the small drive 4 TB. Both 4 TB drives are locked in a fire safe. I have a number of older drives that I can no longer access as my current computer has no interface for them. It took more than 24 hours to copy the two 2 TB drives to the new one. Since these drives are cheap I can afford multiple copies of my essential files.

I bought this expansion solely to use for my Xbox console. There is another version of this that is Xbox branded for $30 MORE. Thing is....these are the exact same models with NO difference between the two but the color of the expansion unit itself (the Xbox expansion is green). I did a massive amount of research on this subject also. If you're looking for a good expansion that transfers data super fast (I moved a 110 GB game from the Xbox to the expansion in about 14 minutes!!!!), won't let you down, and doesn't have a large footprint, this is the one for you. There's nothing to install or deal with. You simply plug it in, let your computer, console, or what have you recognize the unit, and you're good to go! That's it! So if you're looking for a nice console expansion...don't bother with the more expensive model...They're the exact same!!!Read full review

Not sure how they keep cramming more capacity into tighter packages, but this drive is quite large in capacity, but not large at all in the physical. It's very quite, and I have even used it with systems that purport to only work with up to 3TB. Of course I may have a problem if the drive is full beyond that. But so far the signs are good.
